AEB: Russia’s car, LCV sales rise 15% to 141,084 units in June

MOSCOW, Jul 7 (PRIME) – Russian sales of new cars and light commercial vehicles (LCVs) rose 15% on the year to 141,084 units in June, the Association of European Businesses (AEB) said in a statement on Friday.

“Russian car market sales continue to recover at a robust pace. Growth rates of 15% in the month of June, and 12% in the second quarter almost make us forget the slow start into the year. Cumulative sales in the period from January to June exceed last year's result by 6%, very close to our initial forecast for the full year 2017 which we are maintaining for the time being,” the AEB said citing Chairman Joerg Schreiber.

Previously, the company expected sales of cars and LCVs in Russia to rise 4% to 1.48 million units in 2017.

Sales of Lada cars by Russia’s largest carmaker AvtoVAZ grew 23% to 27,396 units in June.

In January–June, the combined sales of new cars and LCVs in Russia rose 6.9% to 718.529 vehicles, with sales of Lada cars increasing 13% to 140,231 vehicles.
